Counselor & Speaker | Effective Parenting & Exam Stress Management (since 2006)
For over a decade, I have been passionately working for "Effective Parenting & Exam stress
management" benefiting 25,000
parents and students through lectures and workshops in leading schools and classes in Thane
and Mumbai, guiding parents
and students helping them handle exam fear/stress.
Looking at the rising rate of depression and suicides in students battling fear and stress
of exams, I chose to work for students
in Stds. 8 – 12 appearing for Std. 10 and Std. 12 board exams and competitive exams, to help
them bring attitudinal change
and handle stress effectively.
Observing that from low socioeconomic to high elite class, the problems of parenting remain
the same, I took up this social
cause for guidance workshops on "Effective parenting and Academic stress management" for
Std. 10-12 board appearing
students and their parents. I also undertook teachers training programs to sensitize
teachers to the emotional challenges of
adolescents and behavioral red flags to identify students going into depression.
My articles addressing problems related to adolescence were published in a regular column in
The Times of India in their
student edition, NIE. The column ran for more than 6 months and was extremely well
appreciated especially in ICSE and
CBSE schools of Mumbai, where the cutouts of columns written by me were displayed on notice
boards for the benefit of
parents and students, and teachers as well.
I have been invited to many schools as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour for Annual Days,
Independence Day and my speeches
have been appreciated by audiences running in thousands.
Through Rotary International and International Inner Wheel Associations, I have worked for
underprivileged students in
the interiors of Maharashtra. As Literacy Chairman of International Inner Wheel Club – Thane
chapter, I worked with a
team of committed members for educational uplifment of adiwasi students through the concept
of 'fun & learn', introduced
computer literacy, reduced school dropout rates and helped make a 'Happy
School'.
Improving parent-child relations, empowering students to be confident and stress-free
especially during board and
competitive examinations has been the key focus area of my social work.
Reaching a milestone of 25,000 students and parents this year is the culmination of my
journey in "service to humanity"
and gives me immense satisfaction. I believe, "Even if you are able to change the course of
one life for the better, our life
becomes worth living a million times."
