ABOUT MYSELF

Pioneering the cause of palliative care in Jharkhand & adjoining West Bengal since 2006.

Started the first Long term care facility for the Elderly & Terminally ill in rural setting.

Focussing on resources that are locally available, accessible, affordable & acceptable by the local community.

Integrating spirituality, religiosity, ritualism, massage & aroma therapy in a unique manner to provide a ‘holistic care’ process for healing & palliation.

Focussing on the wisdom of the ancient texts & aptly incorporating the knowledge along with modern medicine for relief of pain & suffering in the dying.

Started a unique programme of ‘Preventive palliation ‘ for the rural elderly by empowering the rural women & thus provide home based care & nutritional support for the rural elderly. This has improved the QOL of the rural Elderly & also empowered the rural women.

In an effort to empower the rural women youth, a unique 6 month full-time programme was started which aimed to train these women as Palliative & Geriatric assistants at Hospices, homes & nursing centers. This programme not only is helping the bedridden Elderly but also the terminally ill to spend their last days in a peaceful & dignified manner.

Regular conduct of medical camps for the rural elderly in very remote & poorly accessible locations with an idea of ‘Preventive Palliation’ coupled with distribution of clothes, shoes & blankets.

Started the ‘Bulbul finishing school for rural women’ in an effort to sensitise the rural women to modern ways of dining & mannerisms.

Conducts ‘retreat sessions’ aimed at addressing ‘ burn-out’ & promoting healing.

Published 3 books, authored chapters, have publications.
