Apart from providing many tourist spots within the city itself, Coimbatore is strategically located to fall in route to many famous hill stations. There are many tourist spots around accessible distance of the city.

Black Thunder Theme Park

Black Thunder is considered Asia's Number one theme park and if you are in Coimbatore, this is a definite must visit. Kids and adults alike can have a blast in this lovely place. The park is beautifully landscaped and thanks to the Nilgiris reaching out to the skies in the background, the weather is cool and pleasant.Black Thunder is a place where you can let your hair down and have pure unadulterated fun. Ooty

An important and Interesting Tourist spot of Tamilnadu. This place is also a place of visit in the summer season for its chill climate. Udagamandalam-Ooty in short is called as the "Queen of Hills". It is located at the tri junction of Tamilnadu, kerala and Karnataka. It is at 7500 feet above the sea level and finds its location in the Nilgris (also called as Blue Mountain). Nilgris is a beautiful mountain range which is a part of Western Ghats. Totally there are three places to visit namely Kothagiri, Coonoor and Ooty. Among these three Ooty is given the primal importance because of its scenic Beauty and excellent climate conditions.

Dhyanalingam

The Dhyanalinga is a Yogic temple located 66 kms from Tirupur, India. The temple was consecrated by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, a yogi and mystic. The temple is consecrated using prana prathista and is dedicated for meditation. Silence is maintained inside the temple. Dhyana in the Sanskrit language, means meditation and linga means form. Dhyanalinga is claimed by the owners of the temple to be a powerful and unique energy form created from the distilled essence of yogic sciences and the first of its kind to be completed in over 2,000 years. The Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple offers a meditative space that does not ascribe to any particular faith or belief system.

Perur

The Perur Siva Temple is situated some 6 kilometers away in the west of Coimbatore. The temple was built by the Karikala Cholan and it is constructed on the banks of the river Noyyal. The Perur Siva Temple is purely dedicated to the lord Siva and the deity in the shrine is called as Patteeswaras and His Consort, Pachai Nayaki. The buildings in the outer edge were constructed by the sawyers of Madurai during 17th century. The inner place of worship is quite very old and the temple has prominent figures of the Indian soldiers in the entrance. The temple is also called as Mel Chidambaram.

Kovai Kondattam

Kovai Kondattam is one of the Best Amusement Park located at Perur in Coimbatore District. It is an amazing theme park that makes adults and children to enjoy and have ultimate fun throughout the day. It has entertaining games like slides, water rides and open air theater where several events will take place. Monkey Falls

Marudhamalai

In Sanskrit, "Achalam" means "Mountain". As the mountain here are surrounded by Marudham trees, the place is known as "Marudhachalam" and "Marudhamalai" in Tamil. Topslip

Topslip is located above the 800 feet from the sea level on the Anamalai mountain range. It is a small place in Indira Gandhi National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary that lies in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu at the southern part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Separated from the Nilgiri Hills by the Palghat Gap on the north, the Park is contiguous to the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) to its west and to the Eravikulam National Park (Kerala) and Chinnar Wild life sanctuary.

Kodaikanal

Beside the waterfalls, cascades and green slopes there are more about Kodaikanal that promises to make your holiday a memorable one in kodaikanal. Kodaikanal is a mesmerizing hill station located amidst the Palani Hills of South India. It is one of the refreshing summer retreats in this part of the country. Set at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level, Kodaikanal soothes the visitor with the cool climes. The surrounding forests provide great trekking opportunities and some awesome scenic views. There is also the beautiful Kodai Lake famous for its natural beauty. The not so adventurous can enjoy strolling around this place and spend a quite and relaxing vacation. A boat ride in this lake can also be a very good idea.

Aliyar Dam

Aliyar Dam was constructed in 1962 across the Aliyar river. It is located about 81 kms from Tirupur and it is found on the foothills of Valparai. Here, Aliyar lake receives water from upper aliyar reservoir through hydro-electric power station in Navamali and the Parambikulam reservoir through a contour canal. Near Aliyar dam, a good-looking park, an aquarium and a mini theme park is being maintained by Tamilnadu Fisheries Corporation. Ambarambalayam Darga is situated at the banks of the river Aliyar.

Thirumoorthy Hills

Thirumoorthy Hills form a part of the Anaimalai range of the Western Ghats. Thirumoorthy temple is situated 70 Kms from Tirupur and 20 kms from Udumalpet on the highway from Palani to Coimbatore. Like other hills in Anaimalai range, this place heaven for the hikers and natural lovers. If you want to hike around Thirumoorthy hills, you should get permission from the forest department. Forest department is located nearby Thirumoorthy hills bus station and/or temple. Besides, it consists of three places of interest – Thirumoorthy Temple, Panjalinga Falls, and Thirumoorthy Dam.
